2007 AHS National Convention page — OUR HELPERS

Thanks to each and every one of you for your support and hard work!

Loon Song Gardens was a featured tour garden for the 2007 American Hemerocallis Society National Convention, July 25-28. Family and daylily friends (old AND new!) pitched in to help us get ready for the big event. We give a heartfelt thanks to each and every one! We do not have photos of everyone who helped, but we (and YOU) know who you are! Here are a few we managed to capture:

Cindy working in the garden Andrea and Linnea set to deadhead Mountain of deadheads Tim mowing the grass
Stalwart HSM member Cindy worked long days and always had a smile for us. Quite the vacation for you, Cindy! Andrea and Linnea--two of our HSM members from WI-- deadheaded for a full day! A ton of effort and terrific teamwork produced a colorful mountain of deadheads. Tim--Region 2 member from WI--gave the new lawnmower (and himself!) an all-day workout the day before the tour.
Kubota tractor at work Grethe preparing torii for painting Grethe with painted torii Trish and Murph painting trim
The Kubota tractor came in handy on a daily basis --here to put up one of the pavillions. Gréthe (Mike's sis) tackles the torii (Japanese gate). Whew! All painted! Where's the hammock? Kathy's sister Trish and brother-in-law Murph give the front trim a fresh coat of paint.
Trisha and Natalie planting hanging baskets Mike and sis Grethe Chelsea, Holli, and Ger after deadheading
In May, Kathy's sisters Trisha and Natalie (all the way from Indiana!) planted containers. Here they pot impatiens for the wooded entrance trail. Mike and his sister Gréthe show battle scars from encounters with the fierce underbrush. Chelsea, her mom Holli (our niece), and our brother-in-law Jer excelled in Deadheading 101 under Cindy's guidance.
Sherrie at refreshment table Stone mason Alex laying stone
Kathy's sister Sherrie took charge of refreshments, much to the delight of our guests! Stone mason Alex Semenov did an artful job laying bluestone for the front terrace. After weeks of steady progress, Alex places the final piece of bluestone!
