A Loon Song Gardens
DAYLILY INTRODUCTION

H. 'Scotch and Soda'

Why we selected ‘Scotch and Soda’

  • Consistent double!
  • Lovely fragrance
  • Reblooms in the North
  • Excellent vigor in zone 4
  • Visitor favorite!

‘Scotch and Soda’is a fragrant hose-in-hose double.

H. ‘Scotch and Soda’ (K. Lamb 2018) Tetraploid.

27" height, midseason, reblooms, 6" flower, double (98%), fragrant, 3-way branching, 15 buds, semi-evergreen, tetraploid. (‘Glorious Autumn’ X seedling) $100/double fan.

Peach rose blend that darkens toward deep rose edges, with fine gold trim, faint rose eye, and lighter midribs. Hose-in-hose form is a favorite form here, and ‘Scotch and Soda’ almost always blooms as a double for us.

David Kirchhoff'’s wonderful dormant double ‘Glorious Autumn’ is the pod parent. Doubles can be challenging for hybridizing, as they often have little pollen (I have to race the bees!) and are missing a pistil. I harvested and planted just three seeds, but ‘Scotch and Soda’ captured my heart.

Seedling #T2024 is out of ('Puccini' X Tetra 'Frances Joiner'). Out of 20 seeds from the cross, all but three died after winter. That's how we select for hardiness here!
